Creating a new jewel

Here we tell the story of repurposing old jewels set with good diamonds into a modern piece to be enjoyed and admired.

Original crescent brooch

The brooch is set with graduated old cut diamonds.

Original pearl necklace

With a fixed pear shaped old cut diamond set feature centre piece and diamond set spacer bars.

Initial design drawings

After talking through what our customer liked and wanted to achieve, we prepared these design options.

The diamonds

By unsetting the diamonds from the original jewels we can both lay them out to better get a feel of the new jewel and also grade and weigh the stones.

CAD file

Having made use of traditional designs we decided to embrace the Computer Aid Design (CAD) technology to create the finished piece which proved to be the most cost effective way of realising the design.

Detail of securing catch

The specification required the pendant to be used both from an adapted pearl necklace and also necklace.

Finished diamond pendant
