Congratulations! You want to or are engaged but where do you start with this most important ring? Who can you trust to give you straight forward individual advice and the best value for your budget? Unless you have a recommendation, where on earth do you start?
Amanda and Denzil often work through recommendation from family and friends. However, if you don’t yet know us we are very happy to sit down with you and your fiancé to quietly explain the process and factors affecting gem stones, to put you at ease that we will deliver the perfect bespoke ring for you.
We understand what an important decision this is and we will work tirelessly to achieve the best outcome.
HOW DOES IT WORK?
We start by working out what your stone colour choices are and what your budget is, so that we can source, select and show you an array of appropriate stones. It might be you may want to use family stones maybe combined with others supplied by us. You may wish to be involved as a couple or not as we help you to decide upon your preferred option.
Once selected, we will prepare a design drawing for approval, prepare a detailed quote requesting a deposit to confirm the commission. The ring will be lovingly handmade by our chosen jewellers.

Sapphire and Diamond Engagement Ring
The couple had agreed the ring would include sapphire and diamond. We sourced a selection of different cuts of sapphires and natural diamonds which were laid out in sets followed by a drawing for approval.
An Old Cut Diamond Engagement Ring
The principal stone was to be an ‘old cut’ natural diamond which are relatively scarce and difficult to source. We offered 4 options one of which was chosen, (a certificated 2.3 carat cushion cut) along with a pair of tapered baguettes.
Diamond 3-stone Engagement Ring
We sourced 2 options: the chosen oval natural diamond (certificated, 1.50 carats G colour VS2 clarity) flanked by matching quality pear cut stones all set into a hand-made platinum mount.
Sapphire and Diamond Cluster Engagement Ring
The technique of enhancing the colour of sapphires through ‘heat treating’ has been long used and is an accepted method of improving a sapphire. We showed our couple a selection of beautiful sapphires and they chose together a certificated un-heat treated stone from Sri Lanka.
NATURAL AND LABORATORY GROWN DIAMONDS
You will have noticed we have prefaced our description of diamonds with the word ‘natural’.
Natural mined diamonds are created deep down in the earth’s crust under extreme heat and pressure, rising to the surface often through volcanic activity, hence they are ‘naturally’ formed. Recently, advances in technology have allowed the manufacture of ‘laboratory’ grown diamonds.
While there is no crystalline or chemical difference between the two, there is a considerable price difference, essentially caused by the fact that the supply of laboratory grown diamonds is infinite whilst the natural supply is finite.
Denzil and Amanda are very happy to offer advice but would normally recommend setting a natural diamond for such a special ring.
